Security Notice – Mixpanel Incident Involving OpenAI Users
Updated October 26, 2026

OpenAI has announced a security incident involving Mixpanel, a third-party analytics service they previously used. Since TREVOO uses OpenAI for our AI chat features, we want to be transparent about what this means.
First, the important part: TREVOO data was not affected.
This incident happened inside Mixpanel’s systems, not OpenAI’s and not TREVOO’s. No chat messages, API keys, passwords, or personal data from TREVOO users were exposed.
The only information involved relates to people who accessed OpenAI’s own API dashboard (platform.openai.com). The exposed data included:
- Name and email used on an OpenAI API account
- Approximate city/state/country
- Browser and operating system
- Referring website
- Internal OpenAI user or organization IDs
OpenAI immediately removed Mixpanel from their production systems and is tightening security requirements across all their vendors.
Why we’re informing you
TREVOO integrates OpenAI technology for our AI Chat, so we’re sharing this update to keep our community informed and aware. TREVOO’s infrastructure, databases, and user information are completely isolated from Mixpanel and were not impacted.
The only potential risk is increased phishing attempts aimed at OpenAI API users. If you also have an OpenAI account outside TREVOO, stay cautious of suspicious emails.
We remain safe
TREVOO was not part of this incident. Our AI chat services continue to run securely, and your data remains protected.
If OpenAI shares additional updates, we’ll pass them on.
